South Iceland
Jokulsarlon is the best known and the largest of a number of glacial lakes in Iceland. It is situated at the south end of the glacier Vatnajokull between Skaftafell National Park and Hofn. We head east, taking breaks in two villages, Hvolsvollur and Vik, and stopping at three waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss and Foss a Sidu. We get to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon in the evening darkness and, in hopes of viewing the northern lights, or Aurora Borealis. The next day, we spend some time at Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and head west toward Reykjavik. Also: hot springs, black sand beach

South Iceland (1 hour from Reykjavik)
The route to Buri lava tube cave isn’t the easiest one. Starts with an hour drive from Reykjavik which is followed by about an hour walk to the cave’s entrance. The entrance is very narrow, but when inside you stand in a great chamber filled with ice sculptures and formations of all sizes. Those ice formations are most spectacular in the late winter. We will walk to the end of the cave, around 1 km. At the end there is a beautiful lava formation, about 20m deep tunnel. We eat lunch and then head back
