Nile Family Adventure

On this 10 day tour of Egypt you will visit the main sights in Cairo before taking an overnight Felucca trip from Aswan to Luxor

This family tour is a good introduction to Egypt. We include trips to the Pyramids and Sphinx in Cairo and the temples and tombs of Luxor. We also include a short camel trek, an overnight Felucca cruise and finally an evening dinner cruise in Cairo

Itinerary

Day 1
Our guide will meet your family at Cairo airport and assist you in obtaining your Egyptian Visas. You will then be transferred to your 4-star hotel. The remainder of your day is free to relax and settle into the hotel after your journey.

Day 2
Today’s visits include trips to the Pyramids & Sphinx. We set the pace to accommodate children and you will be guided by one of our specially trained ‘child friendly’ Egyptologists.

Day 3
This morning we have time to relax by the hotel pool before exploring the churches and alleyways of Coptic Cairo. After lunch we stop at the Egyptian Museum to tour some of the ancient artefacts on display, including the world famous Tutankhamen exhibition. Tonight we take the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.

Day 4
We arrive in Aswan this morning and check into your hotel. We then visit the beautiful island temple of Philae by boat and during term time, we also stop by a local school to meet some of the children and see how schools in Egypt differ from those at home. We also stop at a nearby Nubian village for lunch, before heading back to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon by the pool.

Day 5
Today there is the option to to drive out into the desert early in the morning to tour the spectacular temples to Ramses II at Abu Simbel which were reclaimed from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. If you prefer, you can instead relax by the pool or explore Aswan's busy and exotic bazaar before we board our felucca sailboat for a cruise down the Nile. This evening we will moor by the riverside and enjoy local food and entertainment.

Day 6
We continue our felucca cruise in the morning, enjoying the peaceful ride and beautiful scenery. After leaving the sailboats, we visit Komombo temple before driving the last couple of hours to Luxor, which will be our base for the next few days.

Day 7
We cross the Nile today to visit the sites on the west bank. These include the Valleys of the Kings & Queens, with their many pharaonic tombs; Hatchepsut temple, a testament to Egypt's only female Pharaoh and the imposing Colossi of Memnon. We can also arrange for you to enjoy an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Nile today if you wish. The afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel, explore Luxor, take another felucca trip on the Nile to Banana Island, or perhaps visit the Mummification museum.

Day 8
We spend today exploring the east bank, visiting the temple of Karnak by horse carriage. This enormous temple consists of columned halls, sphinx lined avenues and walls covered with colourfully hieroglyphs. Tonight we take the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. An upgrade to an internal flight is available if you would like to fly home on Sunday to keep the tour to a week's duration.

Day 9
After arriving back into Cairo we explore the Citadel and Khan-el-Khalili bazaar, an excellent place to pick up some souvenirs of your trip. In the evening we board a Nile cruise boat for dinner and a traditional Egyptian song and dance show. You can fly home today to make the tour fit into a half-term week if you wish.

Day 10
Your last day is free for you to catch up on some last minute shopping before we transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
