Egypt & Jordan Adventure
Two weeks covering the Pyramids, Nile Valley, a felucca/luxury cruise, Red Sea snorkelling, and time at Wadi Rum, Petra and the Dead Sea in Jordan
This 16-day tour begins in Cairo, visiting the Pyramids and Sphinx and Egyptian Musem. From here we take the overnight train to Aswan where we can visit the spectacular temples at Abu Simbel and Philae before beginning our journey towards Luxor by Felucca sailboat (luxury cruise upgrade options available). We will then transfer back to Cairo for one night and then head to the Red Sea at Dahab for a short stay after which we cross into Jordan to visit Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and many other sites
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive in Cairo. We will meet you at the airport and assist you in obtaining your Egyptian visa. We then transfer to your Cairo hotel.
Day 2 - After a morning pre-tour meeting by your group guide we take you on a full day tour to the Pyramids & Sphinx at Gisa before visiting the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to see the famous Tutankhamun exhibit. Your guide will be a fully trained local Egyptologist. In the evening we board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.
Day 3- We arrive in Aswan in the morning and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon we take a tour to Philae Temple and the High Dam at Lake Nasser. The Philae Temple is dedicated to Isis and is situated on an island in Lake Nasser which was reclaimed from it's rising waters.
Day 4 - This morning, we have the option to head into the desert and tour the impressive temples of Abu Simbel, built by Ramses the Great. Today we will also take trips to visit the Nile Islands, before beginning our 2 night felucca cruise. We sleep on board the boat tonight (a luxury cruise upgrade is available if required).
Day 5 - After breakfast on the boat, we sail peacefully up the Nile, before mooring near to the temple of Komombo. Tonight you will be entertained by the crew.
Day 6 - We leave the boat this morning to begin our action packed day featuring trips to Komombo, which is dedicated to the Gods Sobek and Haroeris. Edfu, dedicated to the God Horus and finally we arrive at Luxor where we will Luxor Temple, beautifully lit up at night.
Day 7 - We cross the Nile today to visit the sites on the west bank. These include the Valleys of the Kings & Queens, with their pharaonic tombs; Hatchepsut temple, a testament to Egypt's only female Pharaoh, and the imposing Colossi of Memnom. We can also arrange for you to enjoy an early morning hot air balloon ride over the Nile today if you wish. Later in the afternoon we visit the enormous complex of temples at Karnak before boarding the overnight sleeper train back to Cairo.
Day 8 - This morning we will arrive in Cairo. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day is free. We offer a full day trip to Alexandria or to Wadi Rayan and the Valley of the Whales. You will spend the night in Cairo, why not sample one of Cairo’s many restaurants.
Day 9 - We leave Cairo this morning by private vehicle and cross the Suez Canal into the Sinai peninsular to your Red Sea beach resort in Dahab. There is an option available to climb Mt Sinai this evening to see the incredible sunrise in the morning over this impressive landscape, followed by a visit to St. Catherine's monastery at the foot of the mountain.
Days 10 & 11 - These two days are free in Dahab to relax after your last week's sightseeing. You can try some snorkelling or scuba-diving if you wish, or take a jeep or camel safari into the desert.
Day 12 - We have an early start this morning to catch the ferry to Jordan. On arrival in Aqaba we visit the ancient fort and then head into the Jordanian desert and the spectacular scenery of Wadi Rum where we enjoy a Bedouin lunch and an afternoon jeep safari. The day finishes with a drive to our desert camp where we spend the night. We can also arrange for you to take a camel ride in the desert if you wish.
Day 13 - After leaving Wadi Rum, our first stop today is the Crusader Castle of Shobak, before we arrive in Petra. In the afternoon we visit 'Little Petra' and get a great introduction to the thrills of the main site to come tomorrow.
Day 14 - We take you on a fully guided tour of the sites in Petra today, including the Treasury, the Roman amphitheatre and the carved monuments. You then have free time later in the day to explore the city on your own.
Day 15 - This morning we follow the scenic King’s Highway north via Wadi Mujib, Madaba's Roman mosaics and Mt Nebo – a memorial site for Moses, before visiting a Dead Sea resort where we can swim in its strange salty waters and then driving back to our hotel in Amman for our last night in Jordan.
Day 16 - After breakfast your tour comes to an end, and your time is free until we transfer you to the airport for your return flight. Day trips are available to the Roman ruins at Jerash, the capital Amman, the Baptism Site at Bethany and Ajloun castle.
